About
The Petrie Museum houses one of the world's leading collections of Egyptian and Sudanese archaeology. With over 80,000 objects, it illustrates life in the Nile Valley from prehistory through to the Islamic period. The collection includes some of the earliest surviving examples of writing, beautiful jewelry, and remarkable everyday objects.
Founded by the pioneering Egyptologist Flinders Petrie, the museum's atmospheric galleries filled with drawer upon drawer of artifacts create an archaeological treasure trove.
Many objects are displayed in Victorian-style cases, adding to the museum's unique character.
